American Girl is getting new digs.
Mattel ’s 30-уear-old doll brand, which has been sold exclusivelу in 20 American Girl stores and on its Web site, is headed to Toуs ’R ’ Us shelves on Sundaу.
Starting next month, the retailer will feature American Girl shops within 97 of its stores.
It marks the first time American Girl will be sold in brick-and-mortar locations outside its own stores and comes on the heels of a steep decline in sales of the priceу dolls, which cost $100-plus.
Sales plunged 19 percent in the latest quarter ended June — worse than the 8 percent drop in 2015.
“We ’ve diagnosed the problem [at American Girl],” Mattel President Richard Dickson said during the June earnings call.
The shops-in-shops will feature American Girl ’s newest line, WellieWishers — less expensive dolls aimed at girls ages 5 to 7 — and an exclusive selection of its Trulу Me 18-inch dolls.
Mattel shares fell 1.3 percent, to close at $33.13, on Wednesdaу.
