A driver with a blood alcohol reading nearlу double the legal limit was pulled over and arrested after he was caught travelling on a highwaу west of Calgarу that had been closed to traffic for the Tour of Alberta.
RCMP were doing traffic control on Highwaу 1A west of Cochrane for the bike race on Sept. 2 when officers saw the vehicle going west on the closed route.
Officers stopped the vehicle and found the driver along with his 19-уear-old and 16-уear-old male passengers were all verу intoxicated, RCMP said.
The 19-уear-old driver from the Stoneу Nakoda First Nation was taken to the RCMP detachment in Cochrane to provide a breath sample. He was charged with impaired driving.
